How we Work

Dear Client,

My name is Andreja Ciković and I am the translator and founder of translate-croatian.com. I handle a number of projects independently; however, to ensure quality and accuracy some require the additional assistance of other specialists such as medical professionals, native English speakers or a team collaboration with colleague translators.

Below is the standard format for a typical project.

After establishing contact to our mutual satisfaction, the client sends us the text in order to form a quote. The text is analyzed and a word count is performed based on the source text. Pricing per word count ensures upfront transparency.

The next step involves sending an offer to the client which contains words, price per unit, total price (with or without taxes) and the delivery deadline. Please note that very often the rates are agreed upfront so a simple confirmation email is enough to accept the terms and conditions offered by the client.

The client outlines all special requests, instructions, style guidelines, previous translation experience or terminology lists as explained in our Terms of Service and defines the preferred CAT tool. These specifications allow us to begin work on the translation. Depending on the format of the files, preproduction is needed to convert the files to an editable format, for example if the client sends XML documents. Nowadays, many businesses have their own localization department or DTP expert who can prepare the files or instruct us how they need to be prepared.

Based on previous experience, we feel that it is important to have a well-functioning communication channel with the customer during the translation period to resolve all open questions as soon as possible. The translation process includes consulting specialized resources and researching terminology. When it comes to medical translations, a medical doctor performs a review to validate the content. All translations are edited before the final delivery, and in case the client does not have their own reviewer, proofreading can be arranged as well. Before the delivery, QA checks are performed based on the client's or proprietary checklists and via QA tools.

After the translation is completed and delivered via email, ftp or other previously specified channel, the clients very often have the localized document reviewed in-house and send us their feedback.

We provide advice and/or explanations to the client or their reviewer with the end goal of harmonizing the text to achieve the best possible final version.

Final files are uploaded to the requested client location. After file transfers are completed, post-delivery analysis is conducted to prepare optimal groundwork for future collaboration.
